Feeding Matters

Felicity Hughes is a Lactation Consultant IBCLC, RM in Private Practice. Feeding services include but are not limited to;

  • Positioning & Attachment issues

  • Sore and damaged nipples

  • Assessment of oral function, dysfunction, rehabilitation

  • Tongue tie -Suck Assessment, Referral, baby friendly pre and post care and support

  • Delayed lactation/low supply or over supply 

  • Blocked ducts, mastitis, thrush 

  • Raynauds syndrome, Vasospasm of the nipple & breast pain

  • Breast refusal, difficulty latching, reluctance  

  • Previous breast surgery

  • Weaning and re-lactation advice

Felicity holds further training in OMT, Rhythmic Movement International and Cranial Sacral Therapy. Felicity is a member of the professional body of Lactation Consultants of Australia and New Zealand (LCANZ) and is regularly involved in ongoing professional development across a wide range of areas both within Australia and internationally.

Felicity conducts home consultations within the areas of Sydney’s North Shore, Northern Beaches, Eastern Suburbs, Inner West and Ryde locality. A travel fee may be applied outside of these service areas - please email for details.

Initial Consultation

Home Consultation - 2 hrs OR
Clinic Consultation - 1.5 hrs

Includes:

  • a detailed history of you and your baby

  • observation and assessment of a feed, oral/suck functional assessment as clinically indicated

  • development of a care plan based on the individual needs of you and your baby.

  • Includes 7 days of support via Voxer

Virtual Consultations available on request.

Follow Up Consultation

Home Consultation - 1 hr / 1.5 hr OR
Clinic - 1 hr / 1.5 hr

Includes:

  • Reassessment of your needs and those of your baby.

  • Confidence building and support given as you move towards reaching your goals.

  • Further functional assessment of suck and swallow.

  • Reassessment of the care plan and adjustments made as appropriate.

  • Includes 7 days of support via Voxer

Phone Consultation

30 min

  • For returning families that have moved outside of the 7 day follow up period. Perfect for those times when you have a few questions but no longer need face to face support.

    OR

  • For new families with issues that don't need a lot of time but do need professional expertise or troubleshooting to get you through till you can have a full consultation.

Antenatal Consultation

Clinic Consultation - 1 hr

  • This covers all you need to know about breastfeeding and normal newborn behaviour.

  • Helps to start you off on the right foot so you feel confident and calm bringing your new baby home whether it is your first, second or fourth baby.

  • Includes 7 days of support via Voxer

Antenatal, Birth & Postnatal Package

Includes:

  • 1 hr Antenatal consultation in the Clinic PLUS

  • 1.5 - 2hr Clinic or Home Consultation once your baby is here

  • Support via Voxer is included until the birth of your baby and for 7 days following your initial consultation.

  • To book a package: please book an Antenatal clinic consultation and mention the package in the notes. Your Postnatal booking will be made at the conclusion of your consultation.
